Search Engine Optimization - What Can It Do For Your Business?

Internet marketing is at its hottest right now. Many businesses are clamoring for new ways to get customers with technology. With so many people online already, and those numbers increasing daily worldwide, it just makes sense for any tech savvy company to get optimized.

When looking up a term online, whether it be Yahoo, Google, or any other major search engine, you will get a list of results with that term. The closer to the first page that the result of the search is, the quicker the customer sees it. Many people who perform a search will most likely go with what they find on the first or second page of the results, which is why its so important for a business to make sure that their name pops up within the two first pages.

The usual way of doing this is by having the right keyword percentage in your web content. When a search engine looks for the term through the Internet, it will land where it sees the term most. By making sure that your company's content is keyword optimized, you will be sure that your business is going to show up quickly during a search.

A good percentage to look for with keywords is between 3% to 5%. Too many of the keywords, and it won't work for a couple reasons. The search engines are designed in such a way as to dismiss content with too many repetitions of the same word. The other reason, and most valid from my point of view, is that the content will not be informative anymore.

In order to engage a customer's attention, the content should be informative and worth reading. If the result takes a customer to a page that does not entertain or otherwise get their attention, they will go elsewhere. A website is just a click away, so making sure you have good content is key. You want the customer to keep reading about your product or service.

A few other pointers that will be sure to help optimize the content on your company's site are as follows:

* Always use the keyword in the title of the article or page.

* Make sure to use the keyword within the first 85 to 95 characters of the first paragraph or sentence

* Split up the content into several small paragraphs, or important points.

* The keyword should always be in the very last sentence

There are other various points to proper SEO writing, but this should give a business marketer a good idea of what to expect of search engine optimization and what it can do for their company.
